Hello
Hi I'm Hollie and I have 20 years of industry experience, including training and working for Toni & Guy; achieving Wella Colour Expert status, working as a barber, as well as teaching in a Further Education College and as an apprenticeship assessor.
I have owned and managed salons and recently achieved a BA in Advertising and Marketing Communications, so we truly understand the unique marketing needs of hairdressers, barbers, and beauty professionals.
My Story
Having worked and trained at top salons, I kind of knew that marketing was a part of gaining clients. It wasn't until I managed my own salon that I realised to what extent marketing played. Having to run a full column daily, as well as doing the ordering of products, managing staff, accounts and everything else that comes with running a salon, marketing and posting content online was always last on my list!
I always forgot the 'before' pictures, I hated thinking of trending or 'out of the box' content to put on my socials. Finding different ways to stand out in an already over- saturated market was always put on the back burner. I had two children I needed to go home to and no- one else to help me.
Whenever I did have a free slot in my busy column, I did enjoy creating posts but I never really had the time to put in the full effort and achieve the look that I was aiming for. I wanted to create a brand. I wanted people to know exactly who we were when they heard our name, but time is a cruel mistress and sometimes there's just not a lot of it!
I wanted to create a monthly email newsletter to send to our clients, so they felt involved in our salon, what promotions and deals we were running, to keep them feeling they were getting added value for being a loyal client. But again, that cruel mistress was at large.

Over time, I fell pregnant with my third child and wanted to change my career path. I closed the salon but was at a loss to what I could do. I could go back into teaching? I love teaching, but the hours just don't suit me and my little family. So I thought back to what I enjoyed about running my own salon. Marketing and social media content creation! I never got to fully explore my creativity with it, so I decided to go to uni and study Advertising and Marketing communications.
I also didn't want to leave my hairdressing experience and knowledge of 20 years behind and The Hair Marketer was born!

I want to fill that gap for salon owners and freelancers by helping them with their marketing. Whether that is social media management, one off campaigns for things like new employees or promotions to email marketing and content creation. I'm here to offload any of that added pressure and to grow your brand with you. I also help your staff with knowledge E- Books for cutting hair, colour theory and barbering. These are step by step guides with hints and tips to help them gain confidence and knowledge and are ready to purchase and download on this site.

If I could run my salon again, I would definitely outsource a lot of my marketing. But having experienced giving my website to a website developer with no knowledge of the hair and beauty industry, left me feeling frustrated and out of touch with what was being put on it. I didn't like not having relevant information to my salon and just having a generalised hair and beauty website (probably generated by A.I). I would have liked someone who knew the hair and beauty industry inside out, who knew what clients liked and what they don't. Someone who could target the kind of clients I wanted. Someone I could talk to about the industry and they knew the terminology and the hardships of running a salon or freelance business. Someone to help my brand stand out in a crowd.

That's what I want to do for you.

If this sounds like something I can help you with, please, give me a shout and we can see how we can work together to create a brand that YOU are proud of!
